SCF Acquires Tropical Containers
SCF, Australia’s leading supplier of shipping container solutions has today announced the acquisition of Townsville based business, Tropical Containers.
An established brand in the North Queensland market for over 30 years, the privately owned and operated company has been managed by Ben and Lesley McMahon, longstanding members of the Townsville community. The company’s strong client base and supplier relationships have contributed greatly to its success over the years and positioned the brand as a leading provider of new and used shipping containers in the Queensland market.
Tropical Containers brand, management, products and customer centric approach maintains a considerably high industry standard, all of which strongly align with the SCF business. The purchase will allow SCF to build on the existing product offering of Tropical Containers, while introducing an extensive range of new equipment for lease and sale not previously available.
SCF has played a pivotal role in supporting the needs and increased demands of various businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic; supplying the construction industry with on-site storage containers, dangerous goods containers, and portable buildings, as well as providing equipment to facilitate the ongoing logistics and freight requirements of key grocery partners and transport companies across the country.
Justin Speedy, SCF CEO, welcomes Tropical Containers to the SCF Containers group and looks forward to supporting and strengthening the brand’s business in the Northern Queensland community.
“With the two operations coming together, SCF will continue to build on the existing product offering of Tropical Containers and reinforce its presence in the Northern Queensland market with a team that has a longstanding legacy amongst suppliers, colleagues and customers.
We look forward to working closely with former owners, Ben and Lesley McMahon and their team, as they continue to provide key services to customers through their North Queensland Customs Services business.”
Ben and Lesley McMahon, Tropical Containers former owners’ say, “We’ve gone from strength to strength over the past three decades, providing exceptional product solutions and services to customers in Townsville and greater Queensland. The acquisition by SCF benefits current and future clients by providing a broader range of solutions and services to our customers with the added support of their national network.”
SCF plans to expand its positive employment possibilities within the local Townsville community alongside Tropical Containers’ current team. The depot facilities will be upgraded to provide a one-stop solution for the containers in the FNQ market. Additionally, SCF will take time to connect to existing sponsorships and local initiatives while simultaneously looking at new opportunities for community engagement.
